Facing Each Other
€1200.00
Two jugs occupy the same surface and do not touch. One is black, one is white — not as symbols, but as facts. Between them: lemons that belong to neither side, two citrus fruits that have simply rolled to where the distance is smallest.
The dark jug carries something the white one cannot — a branch still alive, fruit that has not yet decided to fall. The white jug carries nothing. It is complete in its emptiness.
A small dark bottle stands slightly apart, witness rather than participant.
What holds my attention in this work is not the opposition but the gap. Every relationship has such a gap — not failure, not distance chosen out of indifference, but the space where two things remain themselves while still, unmistakably, facing each other.
The person who lives with this painting will know mornings when that gap feels very wide.
