On the Pillars of the Past
Elegant fruit and vase artwork on pedestal
€1200.00
While painting this still life, I felt the contrast between heaviness and lightness. The solid pillar carries fruits and a small vessel – everyday objects that suddenly appear like relics. The pear and the lemon symbolize simplicity and freshness, yet their placement on an architectural base turns them into something elevated, almost ceremonial. The leaves leaning outward add movement, as if nature resists being held within rigid form. For me, this work reflects on transience and permanence: the pillar as a sign of endurance, the fruits as moments of presence. Perhaps it also invites others to look at ordinary things differently – as objects that gain weight and meaning when we grant them our full attention.
